Myself and my husband were lucky enough to have had the lovely Miriam Fitzgerald officiate at our wedding at Tinakilly House Hotel in Rathnew, Wicklow. Miriam had been recommended to us by a friend who had previously attended a wedding at which Miriam has acted as solemniser. From our first phone call to the first time that we met face-to-face, we instantly realised that Miriam would play a key role in making our wedding ceremony very special. She brought years of experience to bear in suggesting a beautiful structure to the ceremony; expertly explaining the significance of the candle-lighting and hand-holding (hand-fastening) ceremonies that we included on the day. Miriam was kind and thoughtful inadvising us how to personalise the ceremony and was calm and poised as she ran through the sequence of the wedding so that there would be no surprises. Indeed we were able to look forward to the day all the more having met with Miriam beforehand. She was kind enough to meet us a second time (not including numerous emails and phone calls) to finalise family readings that we wanted to incorporate into the ceremony in order to make it as inclusive as possible for both our families. On the day, Miriam arrived in plenty of time and her calm air and professionalism immediately put us at ease. She interacted effortlessly with the hotel staff on logistical matters and had previously worked with the singer/harpist that we had selected for the day so that her beautiful words perfectly complemented the wonderful music. From the beginning to the end of the ceremony, Miriam set a warm and spiritual tone; her gentle demeanour lending an air of thoughtful solemnity that had ourselves and all of our guests utterly charmed and deeply touched. Having Miriam officiate at our wedding was certainly the highlight of the day. Miriam joined us afterward at our drinks reception for tea and was kind and gracious to our guests as they commented on how beautiful and emotional her ceremony was. In fact, several guests have since asked for Miriam’s details for future weddings, which we happily provided. We would heartily recommend Miriam as a solemniser for any couple who wish to celebrate their wedding in a very special way.
